Furnace Curtains


Furnace curtains keep heat contained within a furnace and ensure a consistent temperature when dealing with a variety of manufacturing processes. They are hung at the openings and the discharge of furnaces to keep the heat contained or inside the furnace to separate heat zones. They are also used to retain the atmosphere in brazing chambers. The curtains are made from either glass roving, PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) coated glass or stainless steel, all of which are ideal for keeping the heat/atmosphere from escaping the furnace, while its flexibility allows unhampered movements of materials. Individual curtains can be purchased and replaced easily, with very low maintenance. They are most commonly used by steel mills, coal burning power plants, tubing manufacturers, aluminum extruders and car radiator manufacturers. The density of the glass strand curtain will vary dependent on the application. The effectiveness of a glass strand curtain can be improved with the addition of a PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) facing. Some applications will require just PFTE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) or stainless steel.
